Consultant Front Office opens in Read-only mode on multi-User computer
Posted by Bob Hinkle on 08 October 2005 05:27 PM
To allow full access to Consultant Front Office on a Windows XP, multi-user computer, the program must be installed and run using a login with Administrator privileges. Running Consultant Front Office on a limited access login will cause the program to run in read-only  mode and no entries or edits will be able to be saved.

To verify or change the access rights of a user:
  1. Log in to a user account that has Administrator privileges
  2. Click on Start
  3. Click Control Panel
  4. Click User Accounts
  5. Click Change an account
  6. Click on the account you want to change
  7. Click Change account type
  8. Select Computer administrator
  9. Click Change account type
You can now log out of the Administrator account and log in to the account you just changed and run Consultant Front Office without receiving the read-only  message.

The only option to changing the access settings for a specific user is to always log in and use Consultant Front Office from another account that has Administrator rights.

Note: You may still receive the Read Only error if you attempt to start the program when another user on the computer has Consultant Front Office open in their login.
